ラース・フォン・トリアー監督による最新作「The House That Jack Built（原題）」が、日本では6月14日から無修正で公開される。
1970年代の米ワシントン州。建築家になる夢を持つ技師ジャックは、あるきっかけからアートを創作するかのように殺人に没頭する。シリアルキラーが体験する5つのエピソードを通じて“ジャックの家”が建つまでの12年間の軌跡を明かしていく。アメリカでは、あまりの過激さにアメリカ映画協会（MPAA）が手を加えた修正版のみ、正式上映が許されるという事態となった「ハウス・ジャック・ビルト」。
マット・ディロン、ユマ・サーマン、ライリー・キーオ、2月に亡くなったブルーノ・ガンツらが見事なアンサンブルを見せる本作をカンヌ国際映画祭のアウト・オブ・コンペティション部門に出品。途中退出者が続出したにもかかわらず、上映終了後はスタンディング・オベーションが鳴りやまないという賛否真っ二つの異様な興奮に包まれた。
